i came as a shadow

the new john thompson autobiography. i just read this excerpt and can't wait to read the rest.

he was a feared & sometimes hated opponent. but he was also a fascinating man & important figure in basketball history
Keep us posted on how you like it. I have a few other books lined up so not high on my list but would be interested in your comments. Thanks

it's pretty far down on my list, too, but i'll try to get to it before the end of the season . . . especially if they move march madness to may madness!

What do you fellas have on the list. I know this is the hoops board but always interested in what people are reading

How dry/deep a read is the mccloskey book. Interests me even though I’m not a libertarian.
i find her to be a very engaging writer. she incorporates arguments & examples from a wide array of sources throughout the social science, the humanities & the arts.

Interesting read.
On page 44 - "My greatest mistake was leaving Sherman Douglas off the Olympic Team in '88. My hubris, that omission, cost this great Nation the Gold. For that, I am eternally sorry. I can only offer my sincerest apologies to The General, Hall of Fame Coach Boeheim, Orange Nation, and the U S of A, for my lack of judgment and ineptitude. I pray nightly for forgiveness and hope to someday be able to adequately atone for my folly."

I wonder, was he choosing between Charles Smith or the general and decided his own player was the better choice? Bimbo Cole's is in no way as good as The General!
