I Don't Get All the Complaints About the Increase in Fouls Being Called

The fouls being called are not ruining the game. It was the last decade of these fouls not being called that was ruining the game.

I hope the refs keep it up, and I hope they call even more fouls. Teams will learn to adjust, or they will end up losing games.

This benefits SU more than about 95% of college teams, so if any board should be alright with this change, it's this one.

I absolutely expected it to be a positive change but last night's game was unwatchable. I'm not sure what the right balance is, but whistles on nearly every play is not going to restore the "free flowing" game people want. I guess we ahve to hope defenses adjust and stop hand-checking but it's going to be a tough adjustment period for viewers.

Any time you start a behavior modification program, there is resistance. The behavior improvement doesn't happen overnight. One can only hope that the behavior modification program is structured so that the desired change is achieved. While we are waiting for this to be achieved, there can be great consternation.

Count me consterned.

This is the key. The refs need to continue blowing the whistle and not give in to any possible pressure to ease up. Games may be rough to watch for at least the first couple of months, if not the entire season, but eventually, I think we'll begin to see the kinds of games that were so much fun to watch before the clutching and grabbing hit the fan. Remember when final scores of our BE games used to routinely be in the 80s and 90s? I do, and it's so hard to comprehend now.
