Does anyone else think that Sullinger is at best a potential OK NBA player? What am I missing? He is a tubby dude with a finesse game..good hands...good touch around the rim. can dominate smaller, lighter players ...quicker than the typical big stiff college center. ...I just dont see this translating well into the NBA.

Perhaps I just hate OSU. But it seems to me like there has been a tendency to overrate this program basketball wise for the last 5 or so years.

even when oden was healthy I thought he was nothing more than a defensive potential force in the pros. now he is pretty much done

He is one of those kids that dominates in college by playing a position that he will be undersized for in NBA. How he does at PF in NBA is anyone's guess. I wouldn't draft him anywhere near top 10.

Great college player though.

Is Coleman similar?

I must admit..I thought the same thing of larry johnson when he was at UNLV..he was like a 6'7" all power player. what I didnt realize was that he could do so much more than he was asked to do at UNLV because they didnt NEED him to do those other things..things he did in the NBa quite well

I don't disagree with that. He's a highly skilled player with a very good feel for the game [dad is a high school coach, older brother played at OSU, so he was pretty far ahead on the developmental curve]. But I don't think his size / game will translate well into the pros.

Lots of examples of big, strong players who dominate at the collegiate level only to be a 'tweener at the next level.

A bigger, better rebounding Harangody. He'll play out well as a PF for many years in the NBA.

PF you have to be able to explode to the basket on some occassions and beat your man 1 on 1, or have some sort of longer range game. Or be atheltic in transition... anything besides just hanging around the basket like Sullinger does.

I just don't see Sullinger getting constant put-backs he has in college against someone like Dwight Howard. Or like any decent NBA center or tall PF.

He plays nothing like Harangody! Harangody is a face up player Sullinger is a back to the basket player.

Only saw him once, but he didn't look like a back to the basket guy. Was knocking down 15 footers pretty regularly. He def wasn't just around the rim.

He will be a 7th man on a NBA roster for like Houston, Memphis, Portland , Sacramento midlevel team.

You are right, just watched a Sullinger mix on youtube and it was all dunks and within 5' from the rim. I thought he was better from outside. Saw the Duke game but maybe it was Thomas hitting the 15 footers.

To me, Sullinger's game is more similar to Danya Abrams or Dimitri Hill...one level above those guys..but not much
