I went 10-6 the first night and 10-6 the second night. I alos have 10 automatic losers in later rounds because of those results so i'm really 20-22.
I went through my usual procedure of picking 8 upsets, one each in the 3-14, 4-13, 5-12 and 6-11 games and two each in the 7-10 and 8-9 games, because that's the historical average. As usual, I picked, (mostly) the wrong ones. I had California, Temple and Minnesota pulling off upsets and they did. But I also had South Dakota State, Missouri, Davidson, Cincinnati and Colorado, who whiffed.
I didn't see Pittsburgh, Oklahoma State, New Mexico, Wisconsin, Notre Dame, Kansas State or Georgetown going down but they did. I had Oklahoma State, Wisconsin and Colorado in the Sweet 16, Pittsburgh and Davidson in the Elite 8 and Georgetown in the Final Four. They are: in some alternative universe.
People keep waiting for a 16 seed to beat a 1 seed. Western Kentucky, (who got us once, way back when), led Kansas by 1 at halftime but the Jayhawks 'rallied' to win by 7. The other 16 seeds all lost by at least 25 points. The 5 seeds outscored the 12 seeds by a total of 19 points, even though they lost 3 of the 4 games, thanks to what VCU to Akron.
At leas the 'Cuse is still alive and looking good. That's the important thing.
