I had to comp it up.

I wish there was a message board when there was talk of moving from Manley to the HUGE Carrier dome for basketball. A lot of people in this thread would have lost their 1979 minds over the horror. lol.
Well, most of the seats at the Dome are not nearly as good as what we had at Manley. But that downgrade would be nothing as compared to how much worse the seats would be with the court at the 50-yard line.

Could you imagine watching a basketball game while sitting on the 10 yard line? Unless you're the tallest guy in the building, you couldn't see anything. I suppose they could elevate the court, but the view would still suck.

Play the game at Bristol Motor Speedway.

You'd sell 150,000 tickets.

Of course you'd better DVR the game so you can watch it when you get back home ... because you're a fool if you think you'll be able to see the court from 1/4 mile away.

Roughly 30 yards long

31 yards, baseline to baseline. But keep in mind that there's court out of bounds at each end and three rows or seats. Probably closer to 45 yards long in the end.

But still a postage stamp in the middle of the building and making for a dull atmosphere.

Terrible idea. The NBA sized court is substantially smaller than college, if you recall.

Everybody knows that an NBA sized court is bigger. Makes the 2-3 zone less effective because the wings have a larger area to cover. ;)

No no. It made the zone MORE effective at MSG. It was because of the smaller NBA court there. You're forgetting your igor history.

That was bluecurtain. Can't remember which he was arguing.

He wanted to abandon the zone in MSG because the court was bigger.

Boy somebody will have to do some history to check into this. The way I remember it, the argument was made to explain why Syracuse easily defeated UNC at MSG in 2009 (?). Either Igor or Bluecurtain (I forgot about him) made the argument that the zone was only effective in those games (also whooped a ranked Cal team) was because the smaller NBA court in MSG gave SU an unfair advantage. At least that is how I remember it.

Nah, pretty sure OX is right. He was arguing against the zone because we would be at a disadvantage on the larger NBA court. He would never concede the zone being a good defense, even for fictional reasons.
