I think someone earlier in the thread was disappointed for Hackett not calling more downfield throws, however, Oakland played a ton of 2 man under defense in this game. They pretty much tries to take away the deep ball and force Orton to make accurate throws in the intermediate game against man coverage. Again, really not his strength. Orton can push the ball downfield pretty well but really struggles with pre snap reads and that level of the passing game. Buffalo really needs to invest in a couple of offensive lineman as well. They failed to get push in the ground game and didn't hold up the best against a mediocre Oakland pass rush. I'm not sure if injuries (again, not a Bills guy) have set in with that unit, but they looked pretty poor there. I do know someone who works in the Bills organization, and I believe they are looking to address this issue. I too hated the 3rd and 1 call by Hackett. The field was crappy, so there's no guarantee those quick routes are going to really work out there. Brutal call compounded by Orton's brutal throw. I have no idea why he didn't add some touch on that throw either. On a side note, I know Buffalo is supposed to have all these weapons on offense, but the only guy I saw with any electricity out on offense was Watkins. Woods really struggled to get any separation out there and I really don't see any difference between him and Hogan. Jackson is getting long in the tooth and Spiller is made up of balsa wood. Speaking of Watkins, I know much has been made of ODB, Evans, etc. However, if Sammy had better QB play I'd wager to say that he'd be offensive rookie of the year. There was an incomplete deep ball to Sammy maybe early 4th quarter where Orton overthrew him by a few yards. It looked like the db had great coverage on him until Sammy hit his second gear and pulled away from both the corner and the over the top help. Missed 6 there. It reminded me of the TD in the Dome last year against RIshard Anderson I think. Kid is special. [/QUOTE]
