We all knew this after your first post on the old AOL board!

My first post was in September 1999 on the Syracuse.com board. I was advocating we should become a Big Ten team. As I recall people thought I was pretty stupid. Maybe they were right.

You were never on the aol board or that Indy board?

I have a funny story to tell you about AOL. Back when AOL was popular my first wife and I were having dinner at a neighbor's house. We started talking about AOL and the chat rooms. So my friend Jim says, "I don't think all those women in the chat rooms are really woman. I think some of those women are men pretending to be women." So I said, "Jim, I thought that was you." At which point the guy goes completely red face! And his wife lets out a hystical laugh. After this the guy was really mad at me and didn't talked to me for like two years!

I remember that AOL board. I can't remember what my name was, but there was a lot of numbers in it. It was my first online community.

The Grandstand.

I was involved in breaking news on old AOL board. I somehow same across an article in a small community newspaper in Michigan stating that Winfred Walton was ineligible and would not be coming to Syracuse. If I recall bees and I were emailing to try to verify the information. I believe I even called the reporter from the publication. How times have changed.

Good times. I remember being at the Dome to see if Walton was still on campus and had Shoym on the phone so he could post it.

A history of how long posters have been with us, on what boards and what names they used would be interesting. Something about those who have left us, (for whatever reason) but are well-remembered would be good, too. I've been on since 1999 and have always been SWC or SWC75.

I remember being on that AOL board around 1995 or so. I had a different name, which I'm not sure what it was (BAdams2933 sounds about right). After that went away, I wasn't on that first Syracuse Scout forum too much. It seemed less community and more outraged fans, but it was better than the newspaper's commenters. I lurked throughout the entire '00 decade and visited more when the move was made to this site. I didn't register officially until 2011. I still do more lurking than commenting, but I'm trying to be better. I was born in Utica and have lived in the NYC area since 1990. I have family friends that have played (and sat bench) for the Cuse. Since you know where I was born, it's probably not hard to guess who they are.

Hi all, I'm an Orange-aholic. Frankly, I'm not giving it up, and in the words of that greatest of great philosophers, Opus T. Penguin: PTHHHHHT!

Seriously, I lurked for a long while on the predecessor and then joined that board. I switched over here and post when I can and lurk when I cannot. I have spent time lurking on other boards but this is the best one for me and why I mostly post here.
