Im up for classics. I know I’m old, but they are timeless and appeal to the broadest base. The thing we lack as part of an intro ceremony is anticipation. That’s hard to manufacture. VT has a visible walk to the stadium that builds it. Wisconsin has 3 quarters of a game to build it. At tOSU the band builds it with the entire sequence ending with the “i” dot. Very hard for us to do and I don’t think some Medieval Times themed light show is gonna do it. With Sandman or Thunderstruck, the song builds the anticipation too, but also has a chant or bang the seat back element. In this vain, War Pigs is brilliant, but the theme of the song is a little heavy, especially for a school with such a veteran centered culture. Voodoo Chile Slight Return could be fun. Baba O’Reilly could tie with a lighting extravaganza well. Deep Purple’s Hush could also be fun. As a northern school in a southern conference, the Immigrant Song is a good one. If we’re worried about not being contemporary enough, I’ve always liked Intro to PEs Enemy Strikes Black. Bring Tha Noise is a bit obvious and too political. There is a RHCP and LL CoolJ collaboration on the Private Parts soundtrack that is interesting called Back On Up I think. Rage Against the Machine’s version of Renegades of Funk might be fun. Classics that are the Opposite of anticipation, quick hitters, include Tom Sawyer (and they’re Canadian). Rusty Cage is one I’ve always liked. On that, I don’t know Drake well. Is there a good one from him that can capture the imagination of Canadian prospects? OK, I’ve filled my annual quota.
