long term job stability here, but I don't think that for a second as long as Dr.Gross is our A.D.

The Doctor did not hire Desko to coach Syracuse, let alone appoint him a lifelong job.
The face of the Syracuse program is all those trophies that are sitting in the bookcases, not Desko's.

We went to 22 straight final fours and now possibly twice in the last 5 years we will not make the playoffs due to very poor coaching, team play and the lack of team strength, speed.

our extraman offense is one of the worst that i have seen in years from any d-1 team and i cannot think of any Syracuse team that has performed that bad since '83.

He will most likely survive this season, but if he pulls a repeat next year he should be done as parity has taken hold

Desko definitely gets another year. But, having GG hanging around gives Dr. Gross a VERY viable option.

school's sport programs rarely if ever get tenure unless they happen to be named Wooden or Bryant. Even then the best they can hope for is longevity with a sense of connectivity to their school. Desko has taken a premiere program down to the average wannabe. Some may want to attribute this as the developing lacrosse programs across the country but we have had the upper hand way too long to drop like a lead orange in wins and quality on the field. Consider the recruits coming to Syracuse who have been AAs in high school

Desko will definitely survive this season. There is no way he will be fired after this season. However, if he puts together a season like this next year, the seat he's sitting in will get awfully hot.

Still - it would have to be an awful season - you don't get rid of HOF coaches after one or two mediocre seasons.

Saturday I observed 3 defensemen get shredded by a single attacker for a crucial goal late in the game.

I saw ground balls that SU players didn't react to until G' Town secured the ball.

I saw unforced turnovers and misconnected passes.

This season has been one of frustration at the X and it continued when we most needed to secure the ball.

We have had three unproven goal tenders look good at times but not so good at others

No go to guy on offense

No leader

No superstar

No NCAA?

I hope not, these guys have one more chance to turn things around, to prove people wrong.

They have to play balls to the wall in the BET, play with Orange Pride, look at the banners, look at themselves in the mirror, dig deep down and want it more than anybody else for 60 minutes at a time.

First get revenge on Villanova and knock the snot out of the UND, St. John's winner.

I think this aspect has been overlooked on the board but our individual and team defense has been atrocious and seems to be getting worse.

trends is what I am looking at...we are getting beat after halftime, are we out of shape?

no.7 from G.TOWN ABUSED our defensemen on back door cuts bigtime.

15-1 in 2010 and lose in the first round...15-2

13-1 in 2011 and lose in the second round...13-2

this year we don't deserve to be in,even if we win the b.e. tourney

then hobart who is 3-8 outplays us pretty bad in the second half.

fans have to realize syracuse is blessed with the best high school talent that colleges can recruit from.lots of these kids would go to syracuse,a program that roy simmons built and desko is lucky that so many picked syracuse over the years.

if desko was at pennst. or maryland i would highly doubt he would win more than one tittle over the years.

What local players got away and are starring for other teams this year? I know John Greeley, Lafayette to Johns Hopkins and had 2 goals against us right off the bat this year in the loss.

I don't know about starring but there are a bunch of local kids elsewhere. Off the top of my head, Zach Guy starts at attack at Gtown. His father played for Urick at Hobart. Mike Poppelton the faceoff guy at Hopkins is an FM grad.

There are all the kids at locals at Army, but that's not new.

I don't think it's an indictment of anything, those are all great schools.

5 games in 15 days, those guys were gassed. The amount of turnovers and the way the defense was whipped was NOT SOP this year.

I've been saying all year that their aren't any offensive stars on this team. They aren't not great in 6 on 6 settled offense. No one on one dodgers that can and no great shooters that can make you pay for zones. When they have looked for early offense they have been successful.

They have to win the BET to get in. The opportunity is still there, let's see what happens.

John Glesener and Jeremy Boltus at Army last year were classmates at WG with Galloway, and the boys. Believe JB was a 1st team AA, and Army's all time leading scorer. Great player...

Boltus went to Baldwinsville. Henderson Brothers, Tully. Fullerton, Liverpool.

You're right, played with Galloway and those guys on Empire State Games team. Remember them saying they made a pact to play at Cuse and JB changed his mind late. Too bad, he would have been a big help last year as a missing piece to that team...

Mike Manley, Zac Guy, Thompson brothers, Mike Poppelton...

Disagree that GG is viable option. He's made his mark in the women's game. It would be a huge risk to think he could do the same with the mens team.

Also, Desko (a certain hall of famer) would have to experience several mediocre seasons for the seat to become even lukewarm. By the way the 2013-14 recruiting class is reportedly the #1 recruiting class in the country.

Given the explosive growth of high school lacrosse, don't see any school dominating division one lacrosse. In the future, there's going to be more teams with little or no tradition (like Loyola, Lehigh, and UMASS) that are capable of competing against SU and Virginia because college lacrosse is not growing nearly as fast as the high school level so you have more quality players coming out of high school with basically the same number of d1 teams. Right now there are 60 or so D1 schools and that number will continue not to change very much (perhaps increasing only slightly) due to title nine limitations and because lacrosse is a non-revenue sport.

He already is a hall of famer. Apologies if I misunderstood what you meant.

Gary Gait can't coach the mens team because he's the womens coach? Transitioning would be a "huge risk"?

I don't know about the demand for a change, but if one is made I would hope Gait would be one of the candidates.
