Not basketball related per se, but ex-basketball writer related. While randomly reading an article about a minor league pitcher who killed a guy with an errant fastball in a game in 1918 and then threw a perfect game less than a month later, I made a shocking discovery.

As it happens, I am approximately 100% sure that Bud Poliquin is actually the reincarnation of Blinky Horn, sports writer for the Tennessean newspaper over 100 years ago.

Article is worth a read anyway, but pay special attention to the excerpts of Blinky's prose..

They all wrote like that in those days. it was the Golden Age of hyperbole. Few people actually saw the games and nobody saw them in super slow motion. So writers could describe them as they wanted without fear of contradiction and their primary purpose was to entertain and sell newspapers and I'm sure Mr. Horn sold many of them.

Well that is better than sports sections these days writing stories on games not seeing them in person and getting FACTS wrong. Rochester newspaper does that all the time for the Red Wings. SU basketball games get NO coverage because the games usually end after 9PM when they start printing for the morning paper. Needless to say, I gave up that subscription. And the sales person who contacts me can't understand my problem.

I can’t believe the dude’s name was Dodge.
