Twice.
1) By mid 2nd half of the ND - SFA game, I found myself cheering for ND. And when the last tip in went in, I yelled. Mea Colpa.
2) Often during the SU game, I thought they were going down. It started when SU missed their first 5 ft. When Lydon missed the two for the intentional foul then SU failed to score, I got a very bad feeling. When MTSA went ahead, I really got tense. (needed an ice pack on my neck!) MEA CULPA!
Gladly, my faith has been restored. (for now)

I must ask, at what point during the MTSU game did you feel Syracuse was in the slightest bit of trouble? Even with a small margin of a lead we were just beating them in every aspect of the game.

mtsu played like crap in the 1st half and we were only up 4. mtsu took the lead early in the 2nd half. i was concerned. dude its the freakin tournament, anything can happen, some random dude on mtsu could hit 4 threes in a row and all of a sudden we're down 10. its not like we're some juggernaut, there was no guarantee we were gonna roll them from there.

Exactly how I felt!

When SU was up 12, then things began to slip away. Not taking advantage of a possible 4 point swing with the intentional foul was a big let down. Then jump to the 2nd half and all of a sudden MTSU hit 2 constitutive 3's made it look like they had figured out how to get good shoots and were hitting them. I have to give the team credit they pushed by that and dominated. If the team can continue to get TR's play, and DC's 2nd half play and even FH's play, with the rest of the guys, SU will be a real tough team.

The first half and start of the 2nd went very much like a lot of our losses. Early lead squandered by halftime. Lose the lead in the first few minutes of the 2nd. Yeah, I was worried!

I don't think this game was a gimme. The boys earned the Sweet 16 spot. I really don't like the analysis that we should have won and winning was no big deal.

We've really fallen from grace if that game wasn't a gimme.

They had the lead in the 2nd half, we played really well down the stretch.

Dude they just beat the favorite to win the damn tournament!!!! They never trailed in the game!!!! Only time it was tied was 0-0!!!!

And theres no gimmes in march madness, you dont play well you go home no matter who you play.

Based on past games that 16 and 15 seeds have been in I'm sure the winning % for those teams is below .050%. They did beat a great team and there is no doubt about that but believing that they were a threat after their fluke victory is just crazy. We didn't beat them by 25 because they are a great team and we played a perfect game, we beat them by 25 because their talent level is just not close to ours. They beat MSU because they played the PERFECT game, great teams don't play perfect games often and teams in Conference USA rarely do.

We earned our spot in the Sweet 16 and not debating that, but please don't act like we beat a team that is even close to our level because we didn't, their best win before MSU was against Belmont.

I'm actually pretty upset at MTSU for beating the Spartans; cut into our revenge tour of Dayton, MSU, and upcoming UVA. Can't wait for our first win vs UVA as a member of the ACC to come for the right to go to a Final 4...

Edit: Imagine the butt hurt for UVA fans when this happens...

I have no doubt we can beat UVA. We just really need to capitalize on offense and score more often in our limited offensive possessions. Our zone looks really locked in right now and for the first time all season I'm not worried about our defense at all.

Our slides out to the 3 point shooters was a thing of beauty... I don't know if it's being re-energized, or getting a little extra breathers because of Frank, but the perimeter D is 2013 caliber lately...

If we are just average on offense we have a great shot to win right now. The zone is getting to that elite level. We just are missing the big 5 man to clog the lane, but can make up for it in other areas.

I'm not sure what it was either but they played almost perfect perimeter D, I mentioned in another post that Potts may have gone 3-6 but outside of 2 open shots he didn't even have an opportunity to get a look. He's a guy who easily could have gone 6-12 or better. Between the 4 guarding the outside shot and Lydon stopping everything on the inside it was a wonderful, excellent, defensive effort.

Excuse me but do games against Georgetown and St Johns foster supreme confidence in this team?

4 to 5 months ago? Not really. Who and when was the last team to dominate us to the point where we were out of the game? That's where my confidence in this team is, we didn't play ONE team as weak as MTSU outside of BS since GT or St Johns and that was months and months ago with the Coach.

It's funny, I'm defending the squad and their talent in this thread while in another thread I'm considered a jerk because "i don't believe in the team". Sigh.....
