1. You have to hire the best coaches you can, not your best friends.

2. Recruiting the past few years has been overrated...by the fans.

That's a tough one because I don't care who the OC is if you don't have some talent you're not going to win.

Like my brother just said, you love the team you love the players, but we're a laughing stock, and that sucks. Not the kids' fault. If we don't get it together by game 5, I think we won't be seeing some of these coaches again next year. Gross cannot not want another complete rebuilding job. SU can't afford one. If they want the fans to show up, they need to have a product that draws. This isn't it.

I don't think the issue with the D is talent. We lost Shamarko, Sharpe, Diabate, and Goggins to graduation. We lost MPB and Walls to stupidity. We still brought back more than enough talent on that side to not have 34 dropped on you by northwestern.

Nonsense.

I've always defended the coaching hires as genius, for they are, and the fans here are NEVER WRONG in their talent evaluating...

:bang::bang:

Oh Lord

what comes first- the oc or the players?

i dont see that big a talent disparity in players- staff is a whole nuther animal

I refuse to agree with bees. On anything.

He's wrong on both accounts

Disagree with 1, we are a game and a half in. Not enough time to evaluate.

Talent is fine. Scheme is not.

DB's are good, but scheme demands they play off the WR. RB's are good, but there is only one football. There is a lot of raw speed at WR that can do things in space if given the opportunity. Everyone knew QB would be a problem, replacing Pugh would be a problem, hopeful a WR would step up.

The thing that made the defense truly special was the fact Shafer was a genius at calling blitzes. Not many DC's have that.

I guess I am just confused at who was overrated by the fans coming in? Funderburke doesn't really count as it relates to recruiting.
