More than a rumor, was stated several places that Elko was going to make him the highest paid position coach in all of college football.

(So, I’m guessing the “co-DC” title was more honorary, and that Durkin was/is the main guy)

They didn’t make him the interim HC for nothing.
He’s highly regarded @ aTm, and they absolutely wanted to keep him.

But Fran’s a G, and made him an offer he couldn’t refuse.
