I know people dont like musburger but i am a huge fan. Grew up listening to him and met him and he is a great guy. It feels right that he will be doing the su/gtown game again after all those years he did it with packer. Will be looking forward to re watching it when i get home from the game.

Although I thought Knight was a cruel, bipolar coach, in his identity as a basketball analyst, he is hands down my favorite. I feel smart listening to him. And I learn, too.

I was just thinking last night that we haven't heard what the General has to say about SU's 2011-2012 team. He was a real drum beater for us in 2009-2010 and he was right. Are you sure that will be the announcing team?

when was the last time Musburger was at the dome?
I seem to remember something negative about Musberger being at the Dome in the early 90s. Something he said that drew a bad reaction from Syracuse fans, but I just can't remember exactly what it was. I don't believe Musberger has been at the Dome since that game.

Interesting, like you I will be anxious to hear his comments. My late friend used to work his summer camps and has recordings of his all his speeches from those events.

remember Musburger in the dome doing the '87 PSU football game and beat down we gave them. Very high on Syracuse in general saying there's no reason they can't have a very successful program foretelling what happened. Here's hoping history repeats itself...

He must have said we didn't have a go-to guy. ;)

He did the SU-Miami 1992 football game... so that's the latest I can remember.

Knight has gotten quite sleepily droll over the last few years, almost like he wishes he didn't have to talk and he could just watch the game, but he'll toss in a quip here and there.

He started the Donnie Mac for Heisman bandwagon:)

I have been thinking the same thing. He's like the grumpy grandfather living in your house, who you are scared to bother while he is watching his programs.

Actually, the way I remember it, Musburger was the one who launched Tim Brown's campaign when Brown had a couple of good returns vs. either Mich or MSU early that season. Brent slobbered all over him. McPherson was never able to close the gap and win the Heisman. Of course, SU's SID office didn't start banging the drum until the season was half over.

Brown was a favorite before the season started, so there was really nothing to "launch", but you're right, Musberger was not impressed with Syracuse until he was there to witness our thumping of PSU. It was almost his way of eating crow how he got on the 'Cuse bandwagon.

I have always loved Musburger... his "you are looking LIIIIIVE!" always pumps me up. I think Knight is a good broadcaster, but that doesn't change the fact that he was a mean-spirited bully his entire coaching career.

Absolutely Marsh. Great call and I'm in same boat.

44cuse

Over/under on how many Musberger references about Ohio State. Line is 6.5.

I love how he holds his words and drags them out. Heeeeeees got it! Love the way he calls a game.
