Of course it's only the first year (and probably the last) of the challenge, but there's some matchups that are a little off.

Why is St John's playing Kentucky?

Why is UConn playing Arkansas?

They should have switched those matchups, imo. Did somebody at UConn say they didn't want to play UK?

Actually, I'd would have rather had us play UK and UConn play Florida. That would have made the series pretty good.

Vandy vs Lville is a decent matchup, though.

UCONN played KY twice last year. But I agree with you. Maybe they liked the Lavin vs. Calipari thing.

The "L'Oreal Paris" Showdown.

The Big East is mentally challenged. The ACC matched up Duke with Ohio State, and North Carolina with Wisconsin. The ACC knows what it's doing. The match-ups should have looked like this.

#1 Kentucky @ #3 Syracuse
#10 Connecticut @ #9 Florida
#19Vanderbilt @ #6 Louisville
#17Pittsburgh @ #12 Alabama

Georgetown @ Tennessee
Cincinnati @ Georgia
LSU @ West Virginia
Arkansas @ Marquette

Villanova @ Mississippi State
Seton Hall @ South Carolina
South Florida @ Ole Miss
Auburn @ Notre Dame

There is absolutely no reason for the bottom 4 Big East teams from last year to be in the challenge. Providence, Rutgers, St Johns, and DePaul were the bottom 4 of the 16. They shouldn't be in this.

Yup, could have had a really awesome challenge. Instead, it's just kind of "okay".

BTW, St. John's sucks.

UK is decent. They appear to play good defense (but I don't know if that's because SJU is that bad).

I actually think we match up very well with UK. The don't seem to shoot very well, and are loaded with slashing/driving young players. We tend to compete well with those types of teams. I think our 2-3 zone would give UK fits.

Especially with teams that aren't particularly smart.

Unfortunately, there is a rotation for the teams that are allowed to participate. IIRC, we didn't play last year, nor did 12 other teams. Format changed this year, and it seems as though it will be a rotation of teams from season to season. Used to be two double headers at two different locations, now it's home sites and whatnot.

In the ACC I hope the two worst teams sit out of the ACC/B1G Challenge.

Really wish we were playing UK...this is the 3rd time drawing UF...

3rd time playing UF in the last 4 years, but the first time was because of the tourney in Kansas City, not the BE/SEC challenge.

Also faced Florida at MSG during their first national title season, they are becoming a pseudo-regular on the schedule.

St. Johns has no size at all. Everything they put up around the basket was swiped away by UK.

Agree in general, but St. Johns was in the bottom 4 last year? You realize they finished tied with us, right?

Now they may have been projected for bottom 4 this year.
