None of this can be a shock to the players. The earlier loss of Melo WAS a shock to the system and included the loss of Mookie and it was nearly foreordained they'd loss that game with those disturbances and distractions.. They were likely broadsided by the news on both. At least somewhat. Mookie and the pregame ritual they had all season was an important part of their routine (one that some minimize but shouldn't), and apparently he was a presence that was missed, more off the court obviously than on. However, this loss of continuity and the shock of it combined with Melos loss were the huge factors in that upset. Once used to it they adjust on both situations they went on to win the next two without them. As I said above with this now, there's no way any of this can be any sort of significant shock to them. They may have even anticipated and prepared for it. Add another thing to this crazy season they have to be thinking. It will contribute to the siege mentality with the "us against the world" thoughts they have to already be feeling and cause them to circle the wagons even more. When combined with a recent loss in their heads I have to imagine they're gonna come out smoking and focused. We're not talking about losing Wilt Chamberlain or even Patrick Ewing here. With this depth, with this talent and with this chemistry combined with the mental aspect above me thinks they make it to at the FF and those who canceled their whatevers down there will be kicking themselves in the back side. Once to the FF that's where we may see the loss of the big guy come to hurt them against equally talented team. The majority we're writing off SU before this and even more now. More fuel to the motivational fires for this team to use. As someone elsewhere already said...I'm all in! the Gottliebs of the world, the haters, and the rest of the naysers. Game ON!
