Didn't play a lot and probably a bad fit from a defensive perspective. They are a guard oriented team.

I discount Monroe, Roe, and Duncan because the line was a lot closer then, and teams didn’t really defend against the 3 because it was new and teams didn’t focus on it on either end.

Exactly, I’m smart enough to know that stats don’t tell the whole story. Lydon only took the most wide open looks he got. Shumpert had to play the role of first option for two years and took far more contested looks.

Had lydon played four years, his final two years would have required him to carry more of a scoring burden….and taken more difficult shots.

when Shumpert was 6th man his Soph year, he shot 43% from 3.

Cole’s height is certainly a plus. Theoretically he could be well covered and just shoot over his defender. A 6’9” 3 point shooter- wow - I hope he can use his size and girth to rebound better.

Agreed Andrew White hit more contested 3s in one season than any player. I don’t think it’s close. He shot a high pct AND made tough shots.

And for the record, his teammate, John Gillon shot a higher pct from three that year. But there’s no way he was a better shooter right?

My thing was Lydon shot a higher pct and maybe if we are lining them up in terms of purity of shot he gets the nod?

That said if you start going into being a scorer I the context of being a shooter Shumps got him by a good bit. Lydon's value is a stretch 4 and had the size plus he did some other things. He was passive overall though as well.

It doesn't matter really but Cole is a much different player than Tyler. He has a scorers mentality. Lydon didn't really have that mindset.

Also in fairness Shump was out there shooting 38 pct not 35/33 like Gmac.
