really played as well as you would hope considering they were on the field all game.

The 2 stud DEs are doing nothing.

Most of Clemsons offense was just throw up high to big guys who were well covered and let them make plays. The killer was the short pass we played well missed a tackle the dude looks like he steps on the line and goes 90 yds..

before replay that gets called out every time. now the ignore the close play and hope replay fixes it.

that was 400 yds of passing by a QB that really played poorly but has Stud NFL Wrs and speed all over the field.

That was the best 600 yard defensive performance ever here. Not joking which of course is a joke

Outside of the missed tackle on the play (and he did step out of bounds imo), i thought the defense did exceptionally well. The offense is just as responsible for those points. Cant put that type of pressure on your d all game.

I thought the Defense was fantastic last night. Really couldn't have asked for more from them. Specifically, the secondary was awesome. Higgins and Ross are maybe best WR tandem in the country and the secondary held them in check for the most part (Higgins hauled in a couple long balls just due to his shear athleticism). Probably our best secondary in 20 years. No blown coverages with our DBs 10 yards behind the WR, with their backs turn totally out of posistion trying to find the ball. Foster and Cordy missed a couple tackles which led to that long TD is probably the only negative i saw from the secondary.

If we had a competent offense that could stay on the field and score points, the final score would've been much closer.

One frustraion is that when we did manage to get pressure on the Clemson QB several times he just threw it up up in the air for a jump ball. So frustrating that he had such confidence in the fact that his guy would just outjump our DB for the ball, which they did.

I thought they kept us close ! but 650 yards is 650 yards no matter how u slice the pie

The stud DEs are "doing nothing" because there's no DT that commands attention.

Antwan Cordy was serviceable for the program, but he can't continue to get the time on the field he does especially at corner. He's toast out there. Like Clemson did, they shied away from the side of the field Cisco was on and picked on him when he was out there. Evan Foster should have made a better effort to get the man out of bounds, but poor tackling is his forte.

As care taker said, 600+ yards is 600+ yards.

Just a reminder that SU will not play another team this fall that is the same caliber as Clemson.

The DT not being commanding against Clemson is one thing, against most of the remainder by schedule, it will be a bad sign. However, defense improves fast and with eth DEs being who they are, our DT will likely look much better and grow in confidence and wisdom.

Corey gets eaten up by elite level receivers, he won't be up against many more this fall. The young guys are performing well.

The LBs appeared to be more active and better tacklers, though, there is room for continuous improvement.

It will come down to the O-Line. If they learned their lessons, we will see improvement, if not for actual improvement, then for the fact that no other opposing D-Line will be as big, fast, strong, and backed up by LBs and DBs as Clemson. I still think 8 wins is the floor for this team.

I think people are over estimating our offense. The receivers are pedestrian, at best and the offensive line is not very good. Devito hasn’t shown the “it” factor in any of the first three games. If Dino can fix this offense, God bless him. The past three years we could always find a way to score, but this offense has been poor in three games. I don’t think this team can score enough points to say any game is winnable. I hope they get better, but right now they look awful.

the defense kept it respectable. if you consider 40 pts respectable. they were scrapping to the end.

During the game I was sure the D was gassed. I was shocked to see the TOP favored SU.

The secondary did have some hiccups. Cisco was lost on the first td to Rodgers. Cordy just got abused due to his size, especially Rodgers second td, he just got big boy’d on the sideline

Not being confrontational here, but let's be honest, TD was not the reason the offense sputtered. The O-Line and the WRs did not help anyone. The O-line did nothing to open holes for the RBs and they did not even try to stop the pass rush most of the time. When the O-line did manage to block the pass rush, TD had several throws on the money and then the receivers dropped passes that most of us old guys would catch.

In the game thread, someone broke it down Cisco saw a three receiver set with two DBs on the three. The writer stated that Cisco played the right receiver but they did not get help in time. At least, that is what I took away from the analysis. Regardless, in any sport, a three on two is generally a winning combo for the majority team.

The D did well. Our O continues to be a hot mess. Tommy has a very long ways to go to become a serviceable QB. The Oline is Gergish bad, and play calling and game planning has done nothing to address our issues.
The O is as bad as i have seen since Dino took over.

I’d have to see the replay, but I remember him moving toward the los and #3 running into wide open space right by him. Similar issue against Maryland when cordy dropped a man to cover underneath and a wr ran right past Cisco.

The defense did well enough to win. At least until the game got out of hand because the offense couldn’t produce anything and kept putting the defense back on the field. We score in the 3rd quarter after the two INTs like a good offense should, and we’re looking at 20-20 with the crowd so loud Clemson wouldn’t be able to think. The score ended up being ugly but the game was lost on the two offensive possessions after INTs and we started inside Clemson’s 10 both times.

Defense played well enough to win, imo. To many 3rd and 10+ situations, three and outs, and failure to score anything on those two turnovers was simply too much to overcome.

Check the thread, too, to be sure I explained it correctly. I am not an X's and O's expert, but I understood what the poster was saying. Of course, I have slept since then and I have no intention of misquoting someone, any error is on me.

I was a bit drunk and on the far side 30, so I could also be mistaken

He had some great passes dropped, it's true. He's not responsible for the total breakdown of the pass blocking. But he made plenty of mistakes yesterday, and most importantly, he didn't really make any big plays in the entire game. He was on the doorstep 4 times and he couldn't get it in the endzone once. We were in the 2nd quarter, I believe, before the offense got its first 1st down.

He can throw a pretty pass, but he doesn't have much composure in the pocket. He was better during stretches in this game, but he makes too many mistakes, and he just doesn't make plays when you need them. We need more playmakers on this team. Dungey wasn't a great passer, but he had balls, and he could create a play out of nothing a few times a game. We lack that so far, although Moe Neal's 50 yard catch-and-run was the kind of play I'm talking about.
