I've written this before: I used to be geared up for days before a game. I'd sit there in my old SU t-shirt, with an orange beverage, and i'd actually cross my arms and legs in the direction of our basket. Yeah. Dumb. But committed. Prolly shoulda been committed. But, that was the intensity. Didn't miss a second of game play. No interruptions. I was that way since 1985 and only missed two games of broadcasts since then. Until now. As of last year, i don't necessarily bother to watch live. I'm on Pacific time and those 9am games on a saturday morning—fuggedaboudit. And i guess getting used to watching a replay has conditioned me to do that with other games, as well. Even live, most of the time, if i'm not posting in the game thread, i'm doing something else with one eye occasionally on the game... I didn't bother to watch the last third of the Carolina game. Never turned a game off early before. I guess that started something, as i only watched two thirds of Virginia. Bad, bad downward trend. I don't know if that's something i'll ever get back completely. And that's sad. Something i loved is now just something i feel obligated to like. I always assumed that's what it was like to be married or have children.
