I am not a coach or know the actual schemes and I didn't have the all-22 film either. However the main difference between these games was our OL play.

Obviously Dungey vs. Wilson as well. However, the Clemson DL just owned the LOS and didn't give our QBs any time. Against VPI we controlled the LOS on offense and were able to make plays.

Defensively it was pretty much the same. We couldn't stop either team when they wanted to throw the ball and tackling was pretty solid in both games. The difference was Evans vs. Watson. Any elite QB is going to light you up if you get no pressure. We don't get much pressure from our DL and when we send our 3 we are screwed. I really hope Ward against good QBs doesn't send just 3 another. Against NC State or BC type QBs go ahead with that but against good QBs we can't give them all day.

We obviously were never going to be Clemson but they were just a deep team that once we lost our leader on offense had no chance.

Also Cole Murphy really struggles on the right hash. I hope the coaches notice that and realize the kicks on the right hash are tough for him to draw the ball back.

I need to rewatch portions of yesterdays game. It seemed to me that the line held up pretty well given the talent discrepancy. 2 sacks, no QB hurries at least by the stat line.

i thought the tackling was awful most of the game.. several key stops we didnt get early were bad tackling issues. Watson had his A game throwing though so not much our DB could do. several throws the deep LB was perfect but the throw was even better

Before Dungy went down you guys were getting the ball out fast and playing fast. Thats a really good way to negate our D line. We used the really fast pace under Chad Morris to do the same thing because we didnt have the horses on the O line. We have gotten better on the line so we dont use quite as much tempo as we used to but it will always be a good way to slow down a nasty pass rush. You guys will be fine in the long run.
