No more worrying about the #1 ranking, or a 1 seed...

The team can play without any pressure, & will still be one of the best teams in America. There is no dominant team in college basketball this season. Don't even bring up Ohio State or Kentucky. Syracuse can beat those schools with or without Melo.

No offense but that's happy talk. The loss of Melo as a shotblocker, inside presence and rebounder would have a major impact on SU. There is a reason why SU opponents have shot poorly from the field. We will still have a respectable team but it will not be top five material.

That's one opinion, but if any of the current big guys improve their game, the numbers won't be too far off for a shot at the title.

We have the best backcourt in the nation, by FAR, & no other team in the country can lay claim to dominance.

Syracuse is absolutely top 5 with or without Melo...

Try selling that bill of goods to Scoop, KJ, Brandon, Dion, and the rest of the crew.

Do you watch any other teams play?

I know. The optimism of some people is disgusting. What we need is more woe is us negativity.

:bang:

It's possible. Rak just has to grow 3 inches and finish the Rosetta Stone in Portuguese before Saturday.

The frontcourt is top 10 without Fab, & the backcourt is #1.

This is a net result is top 5 at worst.

In the NCAA Tourney, anything can happen within the top 20. Last season, UCONN was nowhere NEAR the top 5, & they took the whole thing, based on a guy in the BACKCOURT... UCONN did not have a top 10 frontcourt...

So, PLEASE STOP with the gloom & doom !!!

The frontcourt is top 10 without Fab

Top 10 without Fab? Really? I'm not sure it was top 10 with him. Close but no slam dunk.

With him, the front court is top 5.

Name me 10 other schools that have a better front court with Kjo, Fair, & Southy?

If anything, there will be even more pressure. With or without Fab, these guys have a goal of winning it all and without him everyone has to step up a bit more.
They have been #1 and in their hearts they still are. Champions create their own pressure and if they don't, a guy named James Arthur Boeheim will be happy to do it for them.

A better frontcourt than 3 small forwards?

North Carolina...Baylor...Ohio State...Kentucky...Kansas. I am tired of listing names so I hope that is enough.

absolutely. massive pressure.

Not to mention the pressure the fans will be under. Prior to the ND game, we could throw on any old shirt and it would be lucky. Now, we will be under intense pressure to select the proper lucky shirt for game watching.

I'm the type of guy who isn't afraid to go to the bench...er, closet...if we're behind late. If a shirt or hat isn't getting the job done, I change.

For the first 20 games, I wore the same shirt for the entirety of every game. Now I have to worry that if I select the wrong one, SU will lose. Because we all know that lucky shirts can affect the outcome of sporting events. And the shirt will have a lot bigger challange than it has to date.

If Fab is done for the year, there will be a lot of pressure on all of us.

I hear ya Dick. I have been bouncing back and forth between SU and Giants garb. I didnt move during the Giants/49er game for 2 hours I felt like Danny Glover on the can in Lethal Weapon. I was not about to move.

well, you have seen mantonio's picture, right? The guy is a rock star. I picture his pad looking like a scene from Van Halen's dressing room circa the 1980 Invasion Tour. No wonder mantonio is so naively optimistic.

With Melo, SU can beat any team in the country and is NC material. Without him, SU is one of a number of very good teams that is beatable by some top teams depending on the matchups, and you always meet one or two of those along the way in the tournament. We lost an NC-caliber team two years ago when AO went down; I hoping against hope that we don't have to tread that same path again. The dream scenario? Cuse learns how to play without Melo and becomes a tougher and better half-court team, then Melo returns in time for the tournaments and they become a team of destiny.-VBOF

mantonio drinks 1 gallon of Orange Juice to his face every morning.

I'd love to believe mantonio...but he has basically been wrong about everything he's said the past 5 years.
