The SEC is 5-2 with two Sweet 16 teams, (Kentucky and Florida, both of whom have won it)
 
The Pac 12 is 1-2 and no Sweet 16 teams.
 
The other Sweet 16 teams are Xavier and Ohio U, who have never won it.
 
So 13 of the Sweet 16 are former champions. To an extent this will be a sort of Big East-Big 10 challenge with three games on tap in the Sweet 16: Michgian State-Lousiville, Syracuse- Wisconsin and Cincinnati- Ohio State.
 
The latter match-up is meaningful to us historians and to long-time fans of those schools. Back in the day the Buckeyes and the Bearcats met for the title in 1961 and 1962. Ohio State, who ahd won the 1960 championship, was #1 and favored on both occassions but Cicncinnati won both times.
