there would 6-8 coaches fired in the ACC this year, nebraska on its worst season since 1960, half the pac 12, auburn, tenn, arkansas. just wonder where they would come up with millions to fire all the coaches, even SU would owe a decent chunk with SS.

if you hire a coach you have to give it some time or you wont even get the next guy to come

I would agree completely with this sentiment if HCSS was an outside hire, but he wasn't. He has been here embedded in the program for 7 years now, so he's very well acquainted, etc. I'm not implying by any means that he needs to go...or stay for that matter, only that when he took over for HCDM, the program was .500 per his 24-24 record (though based on the lows that GRob had taken the program to, that .500 is worth more, imo, than what that statistic portrays).

HCSS is now 13-19, and with some monumental challenges ahead schedule wise to close this season, it's likely that his winning percentage will decrease further. This being the case, it's difficult for me to just objectively believe that he has the program headed in the right direction...

So, continue paying to continue losing? I think that's what I read. OK...

If this board were the AD, we'd be on our 5th coach after today.

Scratch that. We'd be on our sixth. One after each loss and one midweek of his first week - just because the board could.

The problem I have with this type of thread is that tries to lump all of those who want to replace SS into one big, pitch fork-carrying, irrational group. Under this theory, our love of the program and SS ebbs and flows with every game. It might surprise you that there are some of us out there who were against the hiring before a game was played based on what we knew/believed about SS and, as importantly, how everything was handled by the trainwreck that was TGD.

Unfortunately there are in fact going to be a very large number of P5 schools looking for a coach this year. USC, South Carolina, Maryland, Illinois and the P5's that have announced so far. Purdue, Miami, Iowa State, West Virginia, Virginia, Indiana, Arkansas and Colorado are likely. Beamer will likely step down at VT and Mark Richt could get canned at Georgia. Not a good year to be looking for a head coach. AD's must always have a short list of replacement candidates available. That's how it works.

Provocative post.
