I give Shafer credit for finding the cajones to publicly demote and embarrass his friend, Coach McD.

If for some reason this doesn't work out- AD Gross should have this guy on speed dial.

That's a coach even Mr. Millhouse could get behind.

I love Shafer and hope he turns everything around, but...

... He's going to be a great hire anywhere. He found Rakeem Cato in Florida amidst all the other teams that mine FL. He's got a pretty good eye it seems. Even ECU's coach should be a big target somewhere.

He's coached at WVU, NCST, UF, WVU again and now Marshall. He's been a winner everywhere and coached at a high level on both sides of the ball. I was really surprised when WVU picked Bill Stewart and then Skullet over him. He has Marshall killing everyone. Their offensive production for the year so far are 42, 48, 44, 48, and 56. Not great competition but it's all relative to Marshall's talent.

He already recruits our best territories hard and I think his strengths would play well in the Dome. I don't know where his assistants came from but if they are good enough for him, they are good enough for me.

Better to rip the band-aid off quickly than to deal with the slow tear.

Give him credit for that...

My question is now what? What if we continue to struggle the rest of the season? Who else does Shafer/Gross have to throw under the bus? Pretty soon the bus will land on Shafer. This is a desperate move probably one that had to be made but mid season screams desperation. Now that McDonald is gone Shafer is next up.

Without opening the link, I quickly knew he wasn't talking about Goldie Hawn in Wildcats.

It certainly buys him time. There won't be high expectations for the remaining back up QB's.

If he wins two more the rest of the season, he more than likely sticks around. Even if they go winless the rest of the way. Not too many teams get rid of a coach after only two seasons. This isn't the NFL.

Shafer will be around at least through next year unless he keeps making references to ISIS in his press conferences.

But he'll need to get back to a bowl game, any bowl game, next year.

The seat is already getting hot.

not sure why 6 wins out of question... The wake game will be barometer if these team has any shot at 6 wins
