I'm surprised they don't go to a Big 4 with 20 schools under the umbrella of each conference.  Why?  So the conferences that expanded can actually go back to the original schools and play the schools they have a natural rivalry with.

Big 12:
Texas, TT, OU, OSU, Kansas, KSU, Baylor, Iowa S, TCU, ?
WV, Louisville, Cincy, FSU, Miami, Clemson, Georgia T, USF
 
PAC:
USC, UCLA, Stanford, Oregon, OSU, Cal, Wash, WSU, San Diego St, Boise St
Arizona, ASU, Colorado, Utah, BYU, Air Force, Colorado St, Fresno St, ?,?
 
PAC was tough especially if you have to include a decent academic school.  Now you can have a playoff to determine the conference champ and then it's a final 4.  You can mix and match a little as I was just trying to keep the rivalries somewhat in tact.
