My father goes to all of the SU games because he is a big football fan.   My mom stays home because she is happy to see the games she can catch on TV and everything that goes along with attending is more of an ordeal than an "experience".

My father in law goes to all of the PSU games because he is a big football fan.   My mother in law goes with him and "loves" football because of the game day party atmosphere and because her friends go.

And the fact that my mother-in-law goes and enjoys going to PSU games makes it easier for my father in law to go every home game.    The fact that my mom doesn't go to the SU games makes it more difficult for my father to go, if for no other reason than they are not united in Saturday afternoons are reserved for SU football.

It isn't really about the advertising and selling a few more tix this week.   It's about re-building a fan base, a following and loyalty.    And everyone that takes the time and effort to spend time here is probably not in the target market that needs to be reached.
