I have no problem going for it on 4th down... in the right circumstances.  Sometimes you have to know when it is a bad idea to come away empty.  Tennessee settled for a FG against us in their first drive en route to a blowout.  You don't always have to get a TD, especially if your trust your offense and defense.  I think you almost always go up 3-0, regardless of your opponent.  All the more so when your defense has already forced a punt.

"Playing aggressive is the smart play long term always."  Then why even have a punter?  Let's just always go for it.  It is "always" the smart play.

Regardless, other than going for it on 4th down, what was the least bit aggressive about the end of that first drive?  Was there a single play call from 1st down and goal on that was not in the Syracuse playbook before 1950? No play action?  Nothing to take advantage of the speed/power of Willis or Collins' speed?  We barely pushed Colgate around at the line of scrimmage in those situations.  I think a play action bootleg to let Collins score a rushing TD would have dramatically changed the momentum for the team.  What... too risky to put the ball in his hands?  So much for being aggressive "always"...
