I am pretty sure he's aware of the 44s, but honestly, to me at least, its way more impressive and inspiring that the school that he now represents was so ahead of the times in first half of the 20th century. And, to be fair, SU had its low moments later into the 60s and 70s, and he should be aware of those too. But the scope of Syracuse football history is so much greater than 44.
