Illinois/NW is a lot different than SU/ND or SU/PSU. I bet there are more PSU fans than Illinois and NW fans combined, and ND even more so.

Didn't U of I just overhaul their stadium?

Isn't it a huge place?

yup, a "renaissance renovation" in 2008 and a new scoreboard and improvements in 2013.

here's the student section 2nd Q of the ohio state game.

Should never have fired Zook.

As you say, he took that program to the Rose Bowl and in his last season another bowl.

He deserved better.

Agreed, sometimes a good not great coach is good enough... Is what it is. He had the best Qb/RB combo that year. They were great. They destroyed us in the dome

The Zooker is now an executive at bank or something like that. Talk about a string of (bad) luck - had to follow Spurrier at UF then went to Illinois where he brought them more success than they've had in a long time (only to be fired for not winning enough).

I don't know much about their program, but I gotta imagine Illinois fans have to get so frustrated. It's a huge population state with the 3rd biggest city in America in it. They're smack in the region with power programs in Michigan, Ohio and Wisconsin. I assume they turn out a solid amount of D-1A recruits. And yet they only have occasional periods of above average performance, coupled with some truly awful seasons.

florida-georgia at the gator bowl...nobody cries, makes total sense

okie-texas in the cotton bowl...nobody cries, makes total sense

illinois-northwestern at soldier field...makes total sense...everybody cries

Penalize them by putting them at Wrigley and making them play half court football, like the previous game they tried there.

ha!! that was ridiculous.

the best was, they figured out the problem like about an hour before kick.

He had Locksley pulling some of those star players for him. After that game I was convinced that Locksley should be the guy replacing G-Rob and getting those DMV kids to Cuse.

They have a bigger stadium than us and put less people in it than we do. NW visted Illinois last in 2013 and played in front of an announced 37,000 seen here:

Why wouldn't they move the game if they got paid accordinly to do so?

I thought he was a special teams assistant in the NFL or something. But I certainly haven't followed his career closely.

I know, it was great. "So I can't help but notice that the goalpost is in the 3rd row. Just doesn't look right. Let's just use the other half."
