1) It may be the dumbest film I've ever seen. Every ten seconds I was screaming at the screen: you gotta be -ing kidding me / that would never happen / stupid! / seriously? / oh. my. god. / this is ridiculous…. In a cycle. Over and over. Just dumb. Shocking, considering how brilliant I thought The Sixth Sense was. I even liked Unbreakable.
2) Found out while watching that the singer portrayed is M Night’s daughter, and the rationale for making this ridiculous film was then apparent. It’s a vehicle to promote her, I guess. And in that, maybe it’s successful. Surprisingly, the music isn’t that bad. Better than a lot of pop stuff of this era.
3) I kept watching because, even in its stupidity, it’s not boring, but more importantly, I just had to see how all of it resolved. I kept hoping the dumbness had a rationale. I just couldn’t accept that M Night made such a piece of crap.
