I forgot to add- Did you watch the Netflix OJ Simpson doc? It was pretty well done, as well. I think i watched every minute of the actual trial coverage back then, but there were still some surprises in the found-but-not-logged evidence. And then the Mark Fuhrman stuff. My god. I knew exactly what he said back then, but in the ensuing years, that had all faded to just a wash of ambiguous racist horribleness. But, reminded of it all, it makes it easier to understand the way the trial went and the sentiment of a large segment of the population. I mean, OJ did it. But, Fuhrman created doubt. I served on a murder trial in Manhattan once. We as jurors entirely believed the defendant committed the crime. But, we also all recognized the burden of proof without a doubt had not been fulfilled and we had to acquit. An easy decision, actually, even though we hated it. It was ironically a beautiful thing, in terms of justice, that all of the jurors were sophisticated enough to understand our duty and how the system has to work. Fortunately, that defendant was already incarcerated for another matter, so we felt a bit less bad about it.
