man Kris looked like he couldn't get off the floor about 6 times tonight. I am worried about his lack of lift and possible knee problems.

Did anyone else notice that?

nothing really stuck out to me ... will take a closer look vs St. Rose

The guy has been back for about a week. Give him time.
JB said the same in the presser.

I'm more worried about his demeanor.
A coupla times he had that, "Man, I should've played that better"look on his face.
It always seems like he's fighting himself somehow.

...agreed...just did not have explosiveness...did not have much get up and go either...either lack of enthusiasm or worried about his knee...

The thing is we will never know. If the guy had Polio, they wouldn't say jack about it. So we'll just wonder from game to game for the whole season never knowing if there is some nagging injury, a serious problem, or he's just not having a good year. I said it before - him missing a week of practice before the season even starts is the biggest story in Cuse land this preseason and nobody has been talking about it at all.

Both knees were wrapped. I'm concerned about lingering problems.

He seemed like the same KJ as last year so I guess there is some concern... Up and down play, up and down demeanor, up and down on the hard wood.

He looked bad athletically. Almost like a guy who relied on athleticism for an entire NBA career, and now in his 13th year has to rely on his jumper and smarts. Problem being his jumper isn't a strong point. You can almost see that he's figuring out ways to play within his limitations. Smarter maybe, but he hasn't played 13 years yet. Not great.

I really wish he didn't get all the preseason AA hype and expectations. I'd rather have him earn those credentials and be "improved" ... rather than fall short of them a be "disappointed".

Last year he played much better when he accepted the fact like he didn't have to play like a top 10 NBA draft pick or whatever he was being predicted at this time last year.

So thats what it was, thanks...

He said there is some swelling, so yes I'm concerned. This has the earmarks of a lingering problem and the cycle of practice/games/no rest won't help. It might not keep him out of games but if he's not 100% it might mean the difference between a good season and a great season for SU.

I've been thinking the same thing. His body language and attitude makes it appear as though he's not having fun out there. Even last year, he was this way. I'm not sure if it's the injuries or the pressure of being "the guy", but it really looks like Kris is lacking his fun-loving attitude he had during his first 2 years at Syracuse. I almost hope it's due to his nagging injuries and isn't something else. I think his knees will get better, IMO. If it's something else, who knows...

If there is a health issue I wish they'd just sit him out. What's the use of having all this depth if we play injured players. I could care less about the team's ranking or if we would happen to lose a couple December games because Kris is sitting out. CJ is more than capable of replacing Kris for a while and we'd still have JS on the bench. Personally what I saw was a player who was not forcing the issue and was just kind of out there. This would be expected if he's a little dinged up and playing in an exhibition game.

Definitely not good starting off the season. Wonder if shutting him down for a few more weeks would be worthwhile? Getting him to 100% efficiency is and will be much more important to the ultimate level of success that this team achieves than anything that happens in the games played over the next 3 to 4 weeks.
