Nice win tonight.

Not on offense.

But on defense? You better believe it. They should improve, but up to this point, they have been very subpar.

You need your guards to rebound in a zone defense, they haven't done a great job. Also allowing too much penetration to the free throw line by opposing guards. Once that happens, the big has to rotate up and your forwards are forced to make up lost ground.

A lot to work on, but we are still very young up top. And 6-0.

Ummm Cooney has been good D! Ennis is learning our bigs rebounded like sheet tonight! Our whole team is so far behind last years awesome defense its shocking but that's to be expected. You aren't a happy camper are you? Enjoy the good play my man.

Good grief. Pointing out things to work on DOES NOT MEAN I AM NOT A HAPPY CAMPER. I am sitting here very pleased with the victory.

Did I not say they are young and will improve? I thought their D was not good tonight. That's it.

Ennis!!!! Holy Jamolie! nice game for the kid from Kuhnaydah! He shook off some of the early season yips and there's no lookin' back now! No sir ee bob!

This game was chock full of sneak peek previews of awesome soon to be every game occurrences!

Grant! Yowza Yowza! He's like one of the flying Walendas! He starts knockin down those mid range jumpers like tonite and he will be unstoppable.

Cooney, outside of the 2 boneheaded passes... very nice evening in the mid Pacific~

Very encouraging moments! LGO!!!! Bring this thing back to Central NY~!~

never been worried about their talent (indeed, was one of the very few Cooney fans during the off season)

but I have always been worried about the backcourt depth. foul trouble could cost a game . . . and injury trouble could cost a whole lot more.

It's a fair point about our guards defensively but I hope Ennis in particular adapts. I don't remember seeing our wings cheat up as much as they have done this year. Cooney and MikeG are fine but Ennis, if he doesn't have the length, has to be quicker on the defensive perimeter. I think he will improve, but I'm not concerned about the rebounding. Just closing out on the perimeter, and as you mention, not allowing as much penetration.

Agree. I've also been a huge cooney supporter. Loved his hustle last year and underrated passer.

I think Gbinjie has the most room to improve and could be a solid third guard we need.

Good god can you ever be positive before you throw the negative out there. I am not a fan of the "don't get too excited group." sorry but fandom is all about excitement.

That's been one surprise for me: against major-conference-level guards, Cooney is looking slow up top - he can't stay in front of his man and dribble penetration is a little too easy. Both starting guards allowed the ball to get inside with relative ease; this is why Grant found himself in foul trouble.

But the offense was really encouraging. And of course all the guards who get regular minutes (especially Ennis) will improve immensely on defense in the next two or three months. Not there yet.

Or the dreaded, unforeseen mid season suspension...please let us have a drama free season...please!
