Impact of Bernie Fine allegations on Recruiting - Hear directly from 2013 & 2014 recruits

Sound like canned responses to be honest. I wouldn't put any stock in those responses.

That is just talk as of now.

It would depend upon how it played out. If Bernie were to be found guilty of the allegations, but if there was no fall out to the program in terms of impact on Jimmy, NCAA penalties, etc, then it would probably not affect the decisions of those kids.

However, if further revelations brought down Jimmy and/or resulted in penalties/sanctions, well then, let's not kid ourselves. Those would be big factors in any kid's decision and rightfully so.

If the most likely outcome occurs, ie, not enough evidence to totally absolve Bernie, but also no definitive proof of any guilt beyond the current accusations. And there is no direct fall out to Jimmy or the program, then it would probably not have much impact on recruiting, especially as time goes by & it gets out of the news.

You guys are right that these could change depending on the fallout if the allegations are found to be true. That said, it's still interesting to hear where things stand now. From speaking with them, I get the impression they are being truthful.

Agree BO. Appreciate you posting it. Not questioning you at all. I just think they are giving PC-for-now responses.

Good stuff. Only concern obviously is if these allegations turn out to be true then I guarantee some of those views will change.

Of all those guys, I really hope Nerlens decides to spend a year in college, and hopefully, that college is Syracuse. Kid will be a star!

LOL I just picked up on what you meant. Yes I'll re-word some of those words.
Too late, your phraseology is already all over the internet and embedded in a resonse. The damage has been done and is irrevocable (sound familiar to the underlying story ??).

Good stuff. Only concern obviously is if these allegations turn out to be true then I guarantee some of those views will change.
You're most likely correct. That was why I asked what if the allegations are true to most of them.

I think if Bernie is found guilty, Jimmy walks away and then the recruits walk away.

Maybe not.But they signed up to play for Jimmy, not Hopkins.

definitely not a positive recruiting thing no matter how it plays out

Thanks BO44, very nice to hear most of the recruits don't see it as a factor.

IMO what Bernie does alone Bernie does alone. It doesn't reflect the basketball program. How could it? Nobody but Bernie and whos with him knows whats going on

All this reminds me of the Military Barracks. There was a time when the soldiers were allowed to be alone. Then rooms got messy, people started sleeping around, irresponable drinking came out.

Sure enough then you had Sergeants walking the halls, room inspections every morning, and things like that. Now we probably won't even be allowed to have coaches alone with kids who aren't their own(not saying we ever did).

I think if Bernie is found guilty, Jimmy walks away and then the recruits walk away.

I'm not so sure that happens as long as the school isn't found culpable, and no NCAA probations are set.

Maybe not.But they signed up to play for Jimmy, not Hopkins.

You'd be surprised how many kids go to a school due to the assistant who recruited them...for example, when Rohrssen left Pitt, the pipeline to NYC ostensibly went dry.
