Painful exit for us, but I knew your defense was going to be a problem for us. Kudos to your team defense and for your guards who carried your offense. We had a lot of self-inflicted turnovers and 9 FT misses, but the key was your defense making us uncomfortable. We rarely took 3 pointers in rhythm, which is a huge part of our game. Everything was about pounding it to the FT line, and Zeller made poor decisions and didn't execute.

Bottom line is that you got it done and we didn't. Good luck on Saturday.

Great post. Very informative and classy. Thanks.

Tks, Hoosier. SU played as well as it has all year, and your guys didn't get beaten by a lackluster effort, that's for certain. And it's tough to win when shots don't drop. Congrats to your guys on resurrecting the program from the ashes left behind by Kelvin Sampson. One flat game doesn't tell your whole story.

You guys had me worried...I though for surely those 3s would start falling, but to our luck they didn't...and like what you guys said was that you guys are a running team...and that's for damn sure.

You guys had a great season, winning the best league in the country. You combination of an outside game and an inside game was scary vs. a zone. But we were on a mission in this one. Not too many teams would have beaten us. You do need some taller guards.

So does Louisville????

Wow really? I refuse to give them "the best league". No way. Play D and we'll talk...

Louisville fan here. I think the jury is still out on "the best league". I hope you guys have something more to add to that conversation if Michigan moves forward and you get by Marquette. And we may have a shot at Michigan State and Ohio State if we get by Oregon. I don't cherish the thought of #4 with you guys, but if we do get to that point, it would be a hard argument to make for the Big 10.

But, what a great domination you guys had tonight! Scary defense, as always! Congratulations!

Admittedly, even up 10+ late in the second half I was waiting for IU to catch fire from 3 and close the game. Thankfully for us that run never happened and our defense stayed after it because we all knew what IU was capable of if they got a couple shots to fall in a row.

Thank you. Great season for the Hoosiers. We were just better on a given day. Thanks for being classy.

It was one game. You have a great team and your program has a great future. Thanks so much for kind words.

Free throws are huge, they cost us dearly in '87 vs IU.

I felt fortunate and relieved last night when your guys were missing them.

Thanks for the great post and great game.

I would have thought that with Crean having coached at Marquette for nine years before IU, he would have had a more effective plan to attack our zone. It may be one thing to have coached against it, but if your players haven't played against it, that is what counts. Perhaps they just didn't execute the plan.

Congrats on a great season, and kudos for having the courage to come here and be a fan without being a hater. You are welcome anytime.

I think putting Zeller there was good but he seemed so hesitant to take the foul line jumper. Even the half time experts said that. Hesitating against the zone is death. Then towards the end of the 1st half they put Sheehey there and I thought they were on to something butthen didn't pursue it much in the 2nd ahlf.

Yeah. Obviously IU and the media was so focused on "how does IU beat Syracuse's 2-3 zone" that they were focused on how they were going to play offense against that zone instead of how we were going to play basketball and beat Syracuse. It got in their heads and everyone was tight.

In hindsight, we should have had Oladipo, Sheehey or even Yogi at the FT line with Zeller on the blocks, etc. We just didn't get it done.

But based on today, it shows Syracuse is peaking at the right time. Congrats on making the Final Four.

Please Stick around, you are wonderfully pleasant to deal with, the general antithesis of Gtown and Uconn. That's what the Zone does, if it's not defending you tightly, its putting players in positions where they go "Oh what do I do here, Do I dribble? Do I shoot? Do I pass?." That extra thought lets the Defense adjust and usually the player to over think whatever they decide to do.
