How any teams can match up against CJ and Grant? Remind me vaguely of Hak and Carm in 03. How many teams can stay in front of Ennis? How many defenses will extend and run at Cooney? This will make CJ and Grant even tougher to matchup against. Solid top ten team right now! Congrats JB and Cuse on a great mini tourney win!

If they play well we will be very tough to stop. Add in Rak the way he played last night and you have a good defensive center that you can't leave alone or he will hurt you.

The offensive balance is definitely there. The best part to me is that outside of Fair/Rak/Keita, everyone is a sophomore or younger. Which to me means they'll improve as the season goes on.

I don't think we want to measure our offense by its performance against Baylor. Baylor was a good test as an opponent no doubt, but it was more about whether or not we could keep up with their high octane offense. They didn't really concern themselves too much with defense last night.

I don't say this to diminish the win, just that you need to put the performance in perspective. I think the offense that we saw from Jerami and Co. was great and is a sign of more to come, but I also don't expect them to perform consistently at that level against teams that actually put some effort into the defensive end.

I am nitpicking but I don't think it's enough that rak is left alone and he hurts you. IMO either rak or cole need to step up on a consistent basis and have low post plays called for them if JB is to make third straight elite 8 run...won't be easy but the pieces are there...

Yep which is why the zone d needs to improve. I think it will! Last night the zone looked like an amoeba for the first time in the way it anticipated andgot into the passing lanes. Great sign

And once we get into passing lanes, now we just need to challenge 3s and protect rim a little better. Those easy put backs Baylor got at end of game bothered me...

the last 2 games, grant played way better than Hakim did as a sophomore.

Obviously CJ will never match up with Melo. but his mid ranger is a thing of beauty. hes even taken it back about 2 feet and is now all over the court instead of just on the sides like he preferred it last few years.

Couldn't agree more on your whole post. But added up grant and CJ aren't too far behind Carm and hak?

Rak's beautiful reverse layup along the base line on the feed from Ennis I believe, those two drives to the basket by Grant once when he finished with a layup and the other when he made a pretty pass to Rak for the dunk. Such a display of versatility from the front line. Certainly no Melo or Wallace in this group but I do not think I have seen a more athletic, versatile group than CJ/Rak/Grant. Guys that teams will need to guard all over the court and such a complement to what we have in backcourt with Ennis and Cooney. While still a bit raw, these guys could be very good come tournament time.
