They liked that he was upfront with them, they felt like we had a real team environment, they liked the direction the program was headed, academics were integral part of their decision and something pushed by Marrone/staff when recruiting, he looked for "character students/players", etc etc etc.

Those are the facts.  If you aren't aware of those things, that's not my freaking problem but those are absolute facts from almost every recruit and parent that Marrone spoke with and showed up at their houses.

And I've said multiple times that Shafer is a much better recruiter than DM was.  Doesn't mean DM wasn't a good recruiter, just because he hated it doesn't mean recruits/parents didn't like him.  We were on some very impressive players until the very last second when he was the head coach.
