Let us now take a look at a memorable recent moment in SU/Cornell basketball history:

And this was from CJ as a wee bairn, during his freshman campaign. Not quite Warrick/Ivey material, but still pretty monstrous. My favorite, hands down, is still the jam directly on Otto Porter's face last year, with the springy dunk over Pitt about tied with the Cornell sequence.

Extra credit for the following in the above video:

0:07 - An unbelievable 3/4-court bounce pass on the outlet from Big Rick, reminiscent of Magic Johnson.

0:16 - The smh look from the Cornell guy who briefly appears on screen and can't do anything more than laugh at the posterization he's just witnessed.

0:18 - Dion clearing CJ out of the picture with a chest bump that would have made Darryl Dawkins proud.

0:46 - Epic bench hilarity upon CJ's horrible brick of a free throw, including Scoop falling over sideways onto Mookie, and Kris Joseph acting like someone shot an electric charge through him.

Apologies for the crummy vid quality--this was the only one I could find that contained all of the features above; the rest didn't capture the hilarious bench reaction at the end.

For good measure, here's a link to the Pitt dunk, with attitude (site won't let me embed more than one video):

(Man, am I going to miss that trio of announcers.)

Go forth and destroy the enemy, Thickburger. We're counting on you.

Finally: How freaking great is it to have basketball season back underway again? There is no better time of the sporting year than the 5+ months we've got ahead of us (and yes, that includes early April).

GO ORANGE

WAR DAMN OTTO

ahhh I was there for that. Sitting in section 105. I lost my when he threw that down

It's become one of my favorite things to hear an entire crowd erupt into a massive, pro-SU "OOOOHHHHHH!!!" like it did with the Cornell dunk. It happened when Hak teabagged Ivey; it happened when Jonny Flynn crushed poor Mike Rosario (); and it most definitely happened when Gerry hit that dribble-and-pull-up three from about 35 feet on 4/7/03.

Good times all around.

man I remember that one like it was yesterday, crazy it's been 4 years already

Another of Fair's best dunks, but this one didn't count. Horrible call.
