Be real interesting to see where UNC gets ranked. I figure FSU holds pretty steady, hopefully moves up a spot or two, but UNC could be a big mover. We really want UNC to move as high as they possibly can so that theoretically the ACC champion is in no matter who wins that game. I've got to figure the PAC is eliminated. Also, the possibility of a second SEC team in the playoffs has been eliminated with LSU losing. I think we can assume Bama wins out and gets a spot. It would be very interesting if FSU beats UF, but UF beats Bama...but that's not going to happen. I think we can assume the B1G champ is in. I guess it's somewhat possible that if an undefeated Iowa beats and undefeated Ohio State in a close, well played B1G title game, they could get two in, but I don't think that's going to happen. So you've got two spots for the ACC, Big 12 and ND. I think the Big 12 is in good shape if Oklahoma and Oklahoma State both win this weekend. If so, I think the winner of that game can jump ND. Yes, that Texas loss is bad, but the committee respects how teams are playing at the time, and that would be a hell of a run OU would be on. Until proven otherwise, I'm going to take the committee at their word when they say a conference championship is a big deal, and enough to put Oklahoma ahead. The nightmare scenario is OU losing to TCU this week and OSU beating Baylor, and then OU destroying OSU in Bedlam. I do think the committee would put ND over a conference champ that got woodshedded in their final game. But what I'm wondering is whether UNC would have a chance if they upset Clemson? It would seem absurd...but I'm not sure. If they're in the top 10 going into that game, which is possible...they would only have one good win, but it would be the best win of any contender. Their common opponent outcomes would compare very similarly with ND, with the exception that ND lost to Clemson and UNC beat them. I think at this point, the best case scenario of the ACC is hope UNC is ranked pretty highly tomorrow, and can climb up to #6 or 7 before the ACCCG.
