Only seven players have averaged at least 11 rebounds per game in a single season.

Jon Cincebox (1957, 1958 and 1959)
Dave Bing (1965)
Vaughn Harper (1967)
Bill Smith (1969, 1970 and 1971)
Rudy Hackett (1974, 1975)
Derrick Coleman (1988, 1989 and 1990)
Billy Owens (1991)

Jesse is currently at 11.4 rebounds per game. That may come down a bit as the schedule gets tougher, but still very impressive company at this point in time, and it hasnt happened in 31 years. Probably an argument to be made that rebound totals were skewed a bit higher decades ago due to the lesser-skilled shooting.

Also, pretty incredible that Dave Bing is on this list at 6'3". I guess that's why he's the GOAT of our program.

Man, Derrick Coleman was an animal.

Indeed.

He was Big and Nasty long before Jon. ;)

But the craziest part of his board stats is -
He always played with at least 1-2 other solid rebounding guys.
Like Rony, Stevie, Billy O.

So, not only was he beating out the opponents for boards, he was also beating his own teammates.

Also, there are probably more long rebounds now, decreasing chances for big guys.

My man Bill Smith. Maybe the most under appreciated big in our history.

Haha, Comstock - what makes you think DC is that much before my time? I coulda been big and nasty before Boeheim played (I think that was late 1800s)

you would also have to look at the stats to see if more or less shots are being taken. While long rebounds might be a thing they still have to go to somebody on the court.

Excellent point. When did the shot clock come in? Must be a lot more opportunities per game now in the shot clock era

Wow. We shouldn’t bury the lede. How have I not heard of Cincebox before now?!! Dominance for 3 years.

I think he played during SWC75 freshman year.
Jon Cincebox was from Binghamton NY back in 1950s
