I just saw a pro team, (Washington: I'm on Red Zone), line up in the shotgun on 4th and 1 and get stuffed because the handoff was 5 yards behind the line of scrimmage and there was penetration the RB never made it to the line of scrimmage. So we aren't the only ones who do this, despite the fact that it makes little sense.

With a running QB it's always a bad move, with TD giving him the pass option might be OK.
 
I saw Texas line up under center and run QB sneaks this weekend. QBs can do both if the coaches ask.
