AD Gross announced they are breaking ground on the IPF this Sunday. It's great to see that construction will be started before the Clemson game so the recruits visiting that weekend will know it will be done when they arrive on campus in 2014.

While it's great that we will be breaking ground, it no longer looks like there will be any recruits up. Just 1 or 2. Still outstanding news

want to use the official visit weekend after the season. too bad it would have been great atmosphere to show off. i guess that's a disadvantage of recruiting different regions, but that's a topic for another thread, I don't want to take away from the OP, which is great news!

Maybe they're afraid of a bad crowd and a blow out?
i don't think you have to worry about bad crowd, and it didn't seem to effect Pitt, they actually got praised for the atmosphere, despite getting steamrolled

its hard to see how most kids would come during the season from any distance away. most have game conflicts

I think Pitt had 20 something recruits at the FSU game. Miami, and Clemson had about the same, for both of their big home games.

The Pitt-FSU game was also on Labor Day, so recruits going there on Sunday afternoon wouldn't have been much of a conflict. Maybe a home game during Labor Day weekend is a good idea for this purpose...

Miami-Florida was the day after two of the top 5 hs teams played each other, and I'm sure Miami has no problem getting 20 D1 level kids from Dade Co. to any of their home games.

Bonus: that effectively doubles the size of their home crowd.

Our coach claims that it has already paid for itself 3 times over in the short time its been completed. Recruits love it. Hopefully you guys will receive the same returns.

It's been mentioned here before, but SU doesn't have a recruiting "staff", so having a high number of recruits in town during a big game weekend is probably stressful on the coaching staff. I would take them changing the recruiting weekend to be more of a sign that they can't devote the time needed for hosting while still focusing on Clemson.

I also wonder if the coaches like getting the "last shot" at recruits.

Groundbreaking for @CuseFootball indoor practice center. Historic moment for program. Key to growth. #OrangeNation pic.twitter.com/CQFT5sYyVt

It was a first class event. The football team captains were present along with a number of letterman. The football wing looks great and has been updated with a NFL Network top 10 football factories display.

The saddest part was when AD Gross broke down when he announced the passing of Rob Edson a long time member of the athletic department and husband of Sue Edson. My thoughts and prayers are with the Edson family.

I guess someone didnt bother showing these clowns how to wear a construction helmet. You're supposed to fold the inner head restraint tabs first, then slide them into the helmet until they clip. They all look like they have humungous heads

Exciting day for the Football program. Another huge step in the right direction.

Also condolences go out to the Edson family. Shocking news.
