Ran across this series on U-Tube. It's a series of 15 minutes shows explaining the game- and what to watch for by Oklahoma coach Bud Wilkinson. It appears to have been done between the 1957 and 1958 seasons with shots primarily from the previous year. Duffy Daugherty, who was on the Syracuse staff with Bud in the later 1930's, appears multiple times to discuss the game. Also, Red Sanders of UCLA, who died suddenly just before the 1958 season. The observations are pretty basic but we can still learn a point or two, (such as: if you want to know if it's going to be a passing play, look at the interior linemen, who can't go downfield on a pass). This edition, the third show, has a discussion of body types and equipment used in that era. Back then, you didn't need to be big to be a football player but you needed good legs. Other editions are available int he right-hand column.
