We were ranked 15 times, they were ranked 7 times in the final AP poll.  Each team had a national title per the AP but Syracuse was ranked in the final AP top 10 5 times, including once in the 80's and once in the 90's, whereas Minnesota was only ranked in the final top 10 twice and both occurred in the early 60's.

So basically this is why they either want to focus on the past 45 seconds of College Football or all the way back to 1869, because focusing on the modern era really does nothing for their program.  They were more or less completely irrelevant for 50 years, whereas we were on the national stage in the late 80's through the early 90's as a consistent to 15 program, a consistent top 25 program that underachieved during the McNabb years, and then our last significant final AP ranking came at #14 in 2001 led by Dwight Freeney, oops did I name drop another future NFL Hall of Famer?  Granted, they've been better than us since that time, most of College Football during the GROB years can lay claim to that, but not to the point where they've been ranked at the end of the year for any significant number of years.
