They're defining Northeast as Virginia, West Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, and New England. 13 States total. They're actually being generous by giving us Virginia. So, as far as P5 (which are the true players for the top recruits), you've got Virginia, Virginia Tech, West Virginia, Maryland, Penn State, Pitt, Rutgers, Syracuse, and BC. Total of 9 schools. The East region according to them only had 55 top 100 recruits, so that only works out to about 6 per school if the Northern schools retained 100% of their recruits. It's pretty lousy. The South, based on their definition is North Carolina, South Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Kentucky, Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Missouri and Louisiana. 10 States total. P5 Schools - North Carolina, Duke, Wake Forest, NC St, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, Florida State, Miami, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Kentucky, Louisville, Tennessee, Vanderbilt, Alabama, Auburn, Ole Miss, Mississippi St., Missouri, and LSU. Total of 21 schools. The South region has 226 top 100 recruits according to them, average of 11 per school. So basically, the Southern schools, on average, have almost twice as many top 100 recruits in their primary recruiting area than the Northern schools, and retain 91% of those recruits. It's pretty dramatic. Even if the Northern schools retained 91% like the South the pool is still twice as large down there and that doesn't even count Texas which borders their region.
