Sorry if this has already been linked somewhere. Some interesting points in there. Hard to say what the end result will be. I am kind of still on the fence.

Statistics show that the rate of positive cases among college athletes is lower than the rate for positive case among all college students and lower than the rate for their age group. Sorry to the sports writers that are having trouble keeping up with scheduling changes but at least you are working which is more than can be said for all of the contract camera crews that have lost so much work as sports entertainment has been shut down.

why sports writers want to crush the industry that puts food on their table is beyond me.

Tier one for each team includes more than just the athletes.

I think he makes good points, particularly about the disparity in tests available for these athletes compared to those available to Joe Schmoe. I am desperate for college basketball to be played, but I sure don’t want the players to become ill or die just to boost my fragile mental health.

It is very hard to know what is right, and it may be the entire venture collapses in the next month. Or maybe they pull it off and we have an imitation of a season.

??? Maybe.

lol

i love how to msm reported this. duke to forego the rest of their non conference schedule. because of covid or something like that.

without knowing you would think it would be quite a few games. but the reality is that it's 2 games...lol...

i'm really glad coach k thinks things will be better in 2 weeks

people are right to question ulterior motives

Covid-19 doesn’t kill young and healthy individuals. Are there exceptions? Sure.

College kids playing basketball and getting tested non-stop don’t pose a risk to the elderly and other at-risk individuals.

There’s no reason not to play college basketball, from a safety standpoint.

I don’t think the risk to the players is all that great. Risk to the coaching and support staffs is arguably greater. For me the question is how much does the continued game play and travel of all the sports that are continuing, collectively fan the COVID flames in the community at large. Many of us are in some form of quarantine, lockdown or work furlough trying to “flatten the curve” and reduce the spread. Why should something as meaningless as college athletics go on, if shutting it down might help to reduce the amount of time we all are stuck in shut downs by even one day?

The virus clearly is not under control. While the likelihood that any one of us gets COVID and experiences the worst of the symptoms may be low the strain that is being placed on our healthcare system is horrific. The toll on the healthcare workers themselves has been brutal and the system itself seems on the brink of meltdown from the strains of overflowing demand, shortages of supplies and staffing. If the system breaks this all gets exponentially worse!!

I’ll surely watch the games as long as they are played. Is it a good idea to keep playing? I don’t know anymore.

Covid is a fresher excuse than a bad back.

But if they still suck a ways into the ACC schedule, rest assured that will flare back up with a vengeance.

Amazing! God Bless America!

Basketball is like Youtube. If everyone had to watch basketball at home for the next 15-20 years, I would have no problem doing so. The problem is the money curse, not basketball.
