Fran has had a winning record at SU since his very first game as our coach. Babers only had a winning record at SU for one game, his very first game as our coach. Hopefully Fran will keep that going for a while, a couple more wins this year will help that going into year 3. We lose out he is 13-12.

Agreed.

I do kind of think we will lose out, and some people will start to call for his job. But year three is going to be the defining one for him. If it’s a repeat of this year that gets hairy, but it could easily be the start of a 10 or 15 year run here with no losing record and that is my expected outcome.

Statistically there is a 20% chance we lose out. That’s actually higher than I thought, but we are a GMAC free throw away from winning another one. Yay!!!

last years schedule was marshmallow soft .and he's creeping towards .500.
I'm not going to go to the trouble of looking through last years schedule but off the top of my head-
1. Beat Miami
2. Beat a ranked team west of the Mississippi (never easy)
3. Won a bowl game
4. Beat a bunch of teams that played in bowls. Too lazy to look it up.
Initially, it looked like an easy schedule, but turned out to be, at the very least, average difficulty.

Stats like this without context don't mean much. Babers lost his star QB two years in a row. Clemson was at the height of it's powers and on the schedule annually along with FSU who was still good.

Fran was able to use the portal to land a QB in year 1 that he knew from the time he was a preteen and other players he knew from Georgia. A lot fell into place, including us playing our toughest game at the end of the year when we were at our best. We've seen what happens this year when the starting QB goes down. It's actually worse this year than when we ran with walk on Mahoney.

I am confident Fran will be better than Dino. He's already proven that he's miles better as a recruiter and is better equipped to manage the portal and NIL. He's too competitive to not keep improving with X's and O's and improve his staff.

I believe Fran will certainly be better then Dino, but it is a black eye what has occurred with the QB situation. Not that we are losing with a back up, but we are losing with a back up that was sold to us as almost a coin flip to start over Angeli. Collins is the worst Syracuse QB I have ever seen who has started multiple games. To compound the issue why keep going with Collins regardless if he is better the Carney, there will certainly not be a year 2 with Collins, let the freshman take the beating and grow, if not him the Jakari, maybe they can get some tape out there for transfer portal, but however you slice it Collins is brutal and should be benched.

I think Fran make 2 big mistakes which put him in a bind. First naming Rickie as the number 1 QB in the spring. Should have just not named a number 1.
The 2d was going out and getting Steve, because they knew Rickie wasn't good enough.
Then compounded the problem by saying the competition in the Fall was close.
So by all his statements in the spring, and Fall he boxed himself into having to play Rickie no matter the outcome.

Who cares. Coaches say things

just off the top of my head we caught VA tech missing 80 % of their offense (qb and rb held out) and as for the minor bowl game . i don't wanna say the win was meaningless but

People make too much about what Fran said about the QB competition. It was coach speak. What was he supposed to say? "Angeli won the comp going away. If he goes down, we should just mail it in. Collins was a huge mistake that we couldn't have foreseen before the spring."

Ok, still doesn't change the fact that he is sticking with him, makes no sense when you have Freshmen and RS Freshmen on the bench that could use valuable playing experience.

That's a different discussion, and I agree. Collins is atrocious. If none of the others can be any better, we need to push them all out.

Just because Fran isn’t willing to throw any of the true freshman out there now doesn’t mean they won’t be good in the future. None of these guys are four or five stars.

People need to chill.

I'm hoping the same. Still, Collins is so bad, it's hard to imagine someone that will be good in the future, wouldn't be more functional now.
