starting forward Charles Cooke III went to same high school as Malachi. Trenton Catholic. Couple years older. transfer from James Madison.

Cooke's ankle was so bad on Sat, he could hardly walk at the end of their game (loss)

Dayton has a pretty strong schedule. They have a few nice wins.

Watched them when they played URI in Dayton a few Saturdays ago -- they got worked. I know they aren't as bad as they looked that day, but sheesh they got killed

I was at the game. He did a helluva job on Deandre Bembry. Only time all year he didn't score double digits. Cooke is a ferocious defender.

We've lost to a school more than once in the NCAA tourney three times: Duke in 1966 and 1998, Kentucky in 1975 and 1996 and Ohio State in 1983 and 2012. We've gained NCAA revenge on Western Kentucky, Virginia, Indiana, Kentucky, Kansas, Vermont and Marquette.

If Dayton beats us they will have players who twice eliminated Syracuse in the NCAA's. This must not be allowed to happen!!!! LGO!!!!!

SU's history is very good against the B12 and absolutely horrid against the B1G. I can remember at least six different B1G teams sending us home from the Dance.

They were not teammates. Malachi transferred from Roselle Catholic to Trenton Catholic his senior year.

I know. But Malachi went to Trenton Catholic then to Roselle his sophomore year then back to TCA for the last two years.

Oh, that's right.

Good work, SWC.

Fortunately, Cherokee Parks wasn't on this trail of tears.

From memory, too. No need to look it up.

That's the way it is with defeats. Oh Lord

Wow, you truly are living up to your avatar! I think a screen name like SU-Almanac may be fitting! :)

I do understand how the elimination losses stick out more, unfortunately, but am impressed never the less!

I was going to nursery school when we lost to Carolina in '57 and had no awareness of it. For some reason, my primary memory of '66 is the Bruin Classic, not the NCAA tournament. It was my first year of following 'Cuse basketball. The others I watched on TV live with the exception of Missouri. I was visiting my brother in Hawaii and we had already schedule some outdoor activity. He set up his newly purchased VCR to record the game to be watched when we got back but he botched it somehow and the tape was blank. Years later watched it on You-Tube, including Adrian Autry's disallowed shot from flat on his back with would have given us the win in regulation. I'm almost glad I didn't see that live.

It was from his knees SWC and it wasn't at the end of regulation, there were still a few minutes left - but I'll give ya a pass since you never saw it live!! ;)You're still an Almanac!!

Gave me a sick feeling in my gut to think about the '89 loss to Illinois. But what a game and what a roster of players on both teams. Likely to never see that many high powered upper classmen in a game again.

I'm racking my brain trying to remember when we played well against the Big 12...

I didn't say it was at the end of regulation. I'm just assuming that if we had two more points we would have won in regulation.

It's no longer on You-Tube. Anybody else remember if Autry was on his knees or on his back?
