Interview with 2013 4-Star Center BeeJay Anya

He says he can't remember who's recruiting him at Kansas. He knows that Autry is at Syracuse though. I'd say that's good news.

That certainly does say something. Hopefully it is good news. I'll tell you, of all the recruits I've spoken to, he's been the easiest to talk to. He seems like a really good, genuine kid. Wherever he ends up going, I'll be rooting for him.

Autry seems to really be killing it on the recruiting trail. Great hire.

Sure is. But make no mistake, Nerlens Noel is the prize of this class. However, if we were unable to get him, Anya is a VERY nice backup plan. I think really that's the thought with him. Just a guess, I have no inside information on that.

I think they might be looking at Noel as a 4 first then a 5 where BJ would be a 5. When you see Noel think Warrick.

The player road map in my head goes something like this. Fab one more year unless he blows up. Gone as a Junior.

BK or British Knights (sorry had a flash back of those shoes from my childhood BKs) I think he is a 4 year solid bench player.

Christmas is at least a three year player at the 4 occasional 5 . Although I cannot read him one bit and do not have any connections that know about him personally. The last person who I can remeber that was a reserved as he was in their demeanor was Edlin. I know many "top rated" players have a hard time making that next leap and, if not having the starting role, have a hard time accepting that. Let's hope that he can accept this season as a growing year and work hard. I think he is raw but could be very special. I think we forget that Fab, X, and BK are really new comers to the game of basketball compared to most American born players.

Coleman I think will play a 4/5 combo. I do not see him as a 5 in the pros and he has a lot of work to do to play the 4. I think he really is a front court tweener. Build as a C and height of 4. What I have seen of his game he needs a few years in a college system to be near ready for an NBA shot. I think the question with him is how willing he is to stay and do college class work. Many of the reports on him have been that he can be as dominate as he wants to be if he applies himself. I think that goes for the classroom too. He had grade issues for awhile, but he applied himself and pulled out servicable grades. Might be the big fish small pond type of kid and he can't really grow holistically (as a person and player) until he is in the bigger ponds of the world.

That puts us at:
Fab 13 5
BK 14 5
X 14 4
Cole 15 4/5

After KJ is gone, I see CJ being fulltime at the 3 and not at the 4. I see Grant going the same road as CJ and KJ and by his Junior year being the starter unless someone uber comes in. Keep your eyes on Grant he is another one to watch.

BJ and Noel would come in 14 as freshmen. I think we can take both. I can see Noel playing behind X for a year. Kind of like CJ last year. I see BJ being an Onaku type player and becoming better each year. From what I have heard/read he is a very humble kid and a great teammate.

I would love to see Noel at the 5 with his buddy Goodluck playing next to him. Man that would be an athletic tandum. I must admit the paint would look like a bamboo forest.

The one player I would really keep my eyes on in the next few years is Vonleh. Going to be tough keeping him away from UK from what I was told.

Well said memcorsu. BeeJay is a great kid. Like I said, easiest kid to talk to of any recruits I've interviewed with. Very generous with his time, great attitude, straight shooter. You can't help but like the kid after talking to him. I'd love to get both Noel and Anya. That's the first I've heard about Noel being a 4, but hey if you can get them both, you do it and worry later.
