Invention Idea

Good idea, but it wont work. You need to put the sensor in the ball. Putting it on the outside will affect the aerodynamics of the ball causing it to tail the direction that the sensor was on. Get a patent on the sensor technology, and go to Titleist or Nike and set up a licensing deal with them to put the sensor in the ball. That's the best way for you to make money off this, because an aftermarket piece wont work.

Any chance you are the same guy who told my son that Santa Clause isn't real?

This is already being made, it's called RFID tagging.

Violation of USGA Rule 5-2:

5-2. Foreign Material
The ball the player plays must not have foreign material applied to it for the purpose of changing its playing characteristics.

A piece of tape will change the aerodynamics of the ball.

A place in the midwest/south called "Top Golf" is a driving range that uses this technology. I've never been there, but have been told you aim at grid type targets and the RFID in the golf ball relays what zone of the target the ball lands. Heard it's a good time...

Doubt you could develop a micro-sized sensor that could withstand the impact of a 100+mph club head impact.
